A naval mine was spotted on Tuesday on the beach in front of the Capu Midia Training Range on the Black Sea coast, Romania’s Ministry of National Defence reported on Wednesday.
“The perimeter has been secured with the support of the Constanta County Police Inspectorate, and the operational procedures specific to this situation have been applied. A team of explosive ordnance disposal specialists from the 39th Diving Centre is working on identifying and neutralizing the detected mine,” the Ministry said in a statement.
Two days earlier, drone debris was spotted in the same area and was later detonated.
The Capu Midia Training Range is located on the Black Sea coast, 30 km north of the city of Constanta. It is used for training artillery and air defence missile units of the Romanian Army. In 2024, a Patriot surface-to-air missile battery was tested at the range.
