site.btaBulgaria Has One of Best-Developed Legislative Frameworks for Combating Human Trafficking, Says Deputy Justice Minister
Bulgaria has one of the best-developed legislative and policy frameworks in the field of combating human trafficking in the region, Deputy Justice Minister Spaska Kincheva said here on Wednesday. She participated in the Policy Laboratory on "Models of National Rapporteurs for Combating Human Trafficking".
"At the same time, we are fully aware that this framework must be developed and adapted to the current situation, as human trafficking is a dynamic crime and is taking on increasingly complex and changing forms, especially in the context of digitalization and the growing role of Internet processes," Kincheva emphasized. She pointed out that the Justice Ministry has established an interdepartmental working group, which is already working on changes to the European Directive on Combating Human Trafficking, aiming to complete its activities by the middle of 2026.
The event is being held by the National Commission for Combating Human Trafficking and the Policy and Citizen Observatory NGO, in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bulgaria.
