Chair of the Friendship group Bulgaria - Mongolia in the 51st National Assembly Rositsa Kirova said on Monday she received an official delegation from the State Great Khural of Mongolia at the National Assembly.

The delegation was led by Mongolia-Bulgaria Parliamentary Group head Tsend Sandag-Ochir, who chairs the Standing Committee on State Structure.

Other members included Standing Committee on Budget Chair Tserenpil Davaasuren, who served as Mongolia’s energy minister in 2017-2020 and as minister of construction and urban development in 2023-2024; Standing Committee on Ethics and Parliamentary Procedures Chair Bayarbaatar Bayarmagnai; Justice and Internal Affairs Minister Altangerel Oyunsaikhan, leader of the Democratic Party; and Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU) Chair Erdenebat Sukhbaatar, who led trade unions in the transport and oil-extraction sector in 2007-2013.

During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to deepen inter-parliamentary dialogue and expand the exchange of good practices in the work of standing committees and the legislative process.

Kirova briefed the guests on the structure and work of the National Assembly.

“Cooperation between our parliaments does not end with protocol meetings. It is a living process of mutual learning, from the way we debate laws to respect for different points of view. Sustainable solutions are born through this exchange,” Kirova said.

The talks also covered Bulgaria’s energy independence, including how it handled the key issue of diversifying supplies and what the government did to cut energy dependence.

Other topics included tackling fake news and the influence of social media, as well as cooperation with professional organizations to preserve social peace.

The Mongolian guests noted that parliamentary diplomacy served as a bridge between the institutions and societies of the two countries.
