site.btaTISP Leader Trifonov Calls on Sofia Mayor to Resign over Waste Collection Crisis

In a Facebook post on Sunday, There Is Such a People (TISP) leader Slavi Trifonov called on Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev to resign. The post was related to Sunday's protest by Sofianites over the waste collection issues in the capital.

"Sofia has been buried in waste for several months. It looks like a landfill," Trifonov wrote. He believes that Mayor Terziev is to blame for the sight of waste around the city. "The waste problem was created by him, exacerbated by him, and continues because of him. We are lucky that it is winter and the temperatures are below zero, because otherwise epidemics would have already broken out," Trifonov argued.

Earlier on Sunday, residents of Sofia brought bags of garbage to Moskovska Street, where the Sofia City Hall building is located. The protest was organized on Facebook by citizens dissatisfied with the situation. Sofia Municipality continues to assure that it is working to solve the problem. "I understand that citizens are unhappy. I am not happy to see these sights either," Mayor Terziev said a few days ago. He appealed to the residents of Sofia to change their habits and sort their waste for recycling.
