Protest against the expansion of the blue and green parking zones in front of the Metropolitan Municipality building ended peacefully on Thursday.

Protesters began gathering in late afternoon, chanting “Resignation” and “No to the zone.” The planned march to the National Assembly did not take place, and those present said they would gather again at the same spot next Thursday.

There was a strong police presence at the scene.

The protest came after the Sofia Municipal Council decided on November 13 to expand the scope of the capital’s paid blue and green parking zones from January 5, 2026, and to double hourly fees and resident vignette prices, a move that has sparked legal challenges and multiple protests across the city.
