The Medical Federation of the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour held a protest on Wednesday in front of the National Assembly building in Sofia.
The Federation is insisting on a clear and precise mechanism for distributing EUR 260 million earmarked for salaries for hospital workers in the 2026 State Budget Bill, said Medical Federation Chair Rositsa Paleshnikova. She added that EUR 30 million of those funds are for secondary budget spending units at the Health Ministry.
The other demand is for a 20% increase in salaries for employees in the sector, including for doctors and nurses working in nurseries and kindergartens.
On Monday, employees of state agencies demanded a 20% salary increase across several cities in Bulgaria.
