Bulgarian Consul General Dimitar Tsanev signed on behalf of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs eight agreements with associations of the Bulgarian national minority from the consular district of Nis on November 24. The documents are part of the programme for supporting organizations of Bulgarian communities in Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, Ukraine, and Moldova, as well as citizens of North Macedonia with Bulgarian self-identity.
The total value of the agreements exceeds BGN 280,000. The funds are aimed at strengthening the organizational and administrative capacity of the associations, supporting their ongoing activities, and developing cultural, informational, and educational initiatives among the Bulgarian community in the Western Outlands.
The beneficiaries include the Emblema Association in Dimitrovgrad, the GLAS Association in Bosilegrad, the Cultural and Information Center in Nis, the ERMA Cultural and Information Centre in Pirot, the Zvonce Cultural and Information Centre in Zvonce-Babusnica, the Bulgarian–Serbian Center in Vranje, the Cultural and Information Centre in Bosilegrad and the Cultural Alternative in Dimitrovgrad.
By signing these agreements, Bulgaria confirms its consistent policy of supporting Bulgarian communities abroad, helping to preserve their language, culture, and national identity, as well as promoting greater visibility and participation of Bulgarians in public life in the countries where they live, said Ivan Nikolov, chairman of the Cultural and Information Centre in Bosilegrad.
