The Bulgarian feature film Wedlock will be presented in Toronto, Canada on Monday, November 24. The screening will be held during the 21st European Union Film Festival in the city, the Elarte Foundation says in its bulletin.

Elarte comments: "The festival gives us the opportunity to embark on a cinematic journey across Europe and beyond through 28 powerful stories showcasing the best of independent European cinema."

The bulletin states that the film will be screened at the Spadina Theatre and is scheduled to begin at 8:30 PM local time.

The 2024 drama was inspired by works of writer Nikolay Haitov and is set in the Rhodope Mountains at the turn of the 20th century. "Magdalena Ralcheva's sumptuously filmed drama stages intergenerational love triangles and long-simmering familial resentments in an unforgiving landscape, where every character faces impossible choices between love and responsibility, freedom and sacrifice, honour and sin," the festival says on its website.

Wedlock has been awarded Best Film at the 2025 Jaipur International Film Festival in India and the Critics' Award at the 2024 Golden Rose Bulgarian Feature Film Festival in Varna.
