Continue the Change placed a giant piggy bank art installation in front of Parliament to criticize the 2026 Budget Bill on Thursday.

The installation symbolizes the "government's piggy bank" and the central government budget overseen by Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, Continue the Change leader Assen Vassilev told reporters. "It is unclear how the BGN 800 million budget increase will be spent," he added.

The opposition party is protesting at a planned increase in social security contributions by 2 percentage points and in dividend tax to 10% from 5% now.

The proposed budget takes BGN 600 from every Bulgarian to fill the government's piggy bank, with no pay rises planned for workers or new investments from businesses in 2026, Vassilev said. "We have also organized a petition for anyone who does not want their money to end up in the piggy bank," he added.
