A bomb threat prompted the evacuation of Plovdiv Airport on Monday afternoon, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior reported. A subsequent check by the Border Police found no explosive device.
At around 3:10 p.m., an anonymous person called the 112-emergency number to report that a bomb may have been planted at the airport. The area was immediately cordoned off, and staff and passengers were evacuated. The inspection did not reveal any explosives.
The identity of the caller has been established and the phone traced. Police are currently searching for that person.
No flights were diverted or delayed, according to the airport’s official information.
