A public sale through a secret auction of over 87 kg of gold and silver items will be organized by the Burgas Directorate of the Customs Agency on September 17 in Svilengrad, the regional press centre of the Customs Agency in Svilengrad said on Tuesday.
The gold and silver items include jewelry such as rings, chains, medallions, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, as well as gold coins, bars and precious stones. They were seized by customs officers during attempted smuggling efforts at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint in the period from 2016 to 2022.
The Customs Agency noted that potential buyers must have a permit to carry out transactions with precious metals and that the winning buyer will have to pay the due duties and VAT.
In May, the Customs Agency in Svilengrad organized a public auction of 10 cars, seized during smuggling of various goods and drugs at Kapitan Andreevo.
