site.btaSocial Policy Minister: Municipalities Are Ready for Social Services Reform

Municipalities are ready for the social services reform, or at least they are trying to keep up with what is coming, Labour and Social Policy Minister Borislav Gutsanov told journalists here on Friday.

“At our last meeting two weeks ago, 76 mayors attended in person and 150 online, meaning that there was practically no municipality, with very few exceptions, that did not participate,” he noted, adding that he attaches great importance to relations with mayors, and recalled that he himself started out in local government as municipal council chair.

Gutsanov met with Lovech Mayor Stratsimir Petkov and Lovech Regional Governor Dora Stoyanova. Afterwards, the Minister visited a day care centre for children with disabilities and a transitional housing for children from 15 to 18 years of age. The facilities built with funds from the state budget.
