The Bulgarian seaside town of Sozopol will welcome sailing enthusiasts and competitors for the latest edition of the Sozopol Sailing Cup from September 11–13, the organizers said on Tuesday.
Friday’s programme will open with a Pro-Am race between Sozopol Port and St. Ivan Island, followed over the weekend by two coastal races passing landmarks along Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea coast. Part of the Bulgarian Sailing Federation’s sporting calendar, the regatta will bring together crews and yachts competing in the ORC, IRC and Tourist Boat classes.
The event will also feature a cultural and social programme. On September 12, Sozopol Cinema will screen the documentary Women & The Wind, exploring the connection between women, the sea and sailing. The screening will be preceded by a meeting with the crew of Time to Dare, Bulgaria’s first all-female crew to successfully complete the Aegean 600 regatta.
For the first time, the event will also include a public photo competition, inviting residents and visitors to submit photos of the yachts and races taken from shore. The winning image will be announced during the awards ceremony on September 13.
The final coastal race and official awards ceremony will take place on September 13, with the ceremony starting at 5 p.m. at Sozopol’s Summer Cinema.
The Sozopol Sailing Cup 2026 is supported by Sozopol Municipality, the Bulgarian Sailing Federation and the Odessos Maritime Club in Varna.
