The 2nd Heraclea Art Festival will take place over three evenings in September, bringing music, visual art and a fire performance to the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica near the present-day town of Petrich, the director of the local history museum, Katya Stoyanova, told BTA in an interview on Friday.

The programme will open on September 19 with Tenori d'Amore and special guest Stephanie Krasteva, presenting popular classical music designed to make high art accessible to a wider audience.

On September 25, the Heraclea Jazz Band, a group of young musicians inspired by the ancient city, will take to the stage, before Fireter Theatre of Fire and Shadows will present “Ancient Legends,” combining dance, fire and contemporary stage art to recreate stories from antiquity.

On the final evening, September 26, an exhibition entitled Artists of Serres by artists from the Greek city will open at the Petrich Art Gallery. Giorgos Andreou and Korina Legaki will also perform a programme for piano and voice.

Stoyanova emphasized that the festival aims to promote cultural exchange between Petrich and Serres, support young artists and gradually expand into an annual event featuring diverse art forms.

The festival is organized by the Petrich History Museum in partnership with Petrich Municipality.
