site.btaVidin Municipality Asks Central Government for EUR 8.33 Mln to Develop Mineral Springs

Vidin Municipality has asked the Council of Ministers to provide EUR 8.33 million to develop the mineral springs in Vidin, Slanotran and Gradec, the municipal administration said on its Facebook page on Wednesday. The request was made in a letter from Vidin Mayor Tsvetan Tsenkov to Prime Minister Rumen Radev.

The letter states that the municipality has completed the procedures required to begin developing the mineral springs. Projects have been prepared, public procurement procedures have been conducted, the necessary permits have been issued and contracts have been signed with a contractor, but funding for the implementation of the project has not been secured.

According to the municipality, the importance of the project and public interest in it have been confirmed by a petition. Nearly 10,000 signatures were collected within one month, representing more than half of the electorate in Vidin Municipality.

The municipality said the request for state funding is intended to make it possible to implement the project for developing the mineral springs in Vidin, Slanotran and Gradec.

The topic was discussed on August 5 during a visit to Vidin by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investments and Industry Alexander Poulev.
