Queues of cars formed at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint on Monday due to summer holiday travelers heading from Western Europe to Turkiye.

On Monday morning, the line of vehicles waiting to enter the checkpoint reached 1.5 kilometres, with a record 10,120 cars passing through the crossing in both directions over 24 hours.

Crossing times varied, but the transfer to Turkiye's neighboring Kapikule checkpoint took around 40–50 minutes on average. Authorities expect heavy traffic toward Turkiye to continue for another two weeks until the end of August, after which congestion is expected to shift toward Bulgaria as travelers return. They emphasized that heavy summer traffic at the Bulgarian-Turkish border is an annual occurrence.
