site.btaKardzhali Mayor Denies Hiding, Wrongdoing After Questioning at Interior Ministry

Kardzhali Mayor Erol Mumun stressed that he is not a criminal and that he has no intention of hiding. He was leaving the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry where he was taken for questioning on Thursday.

He pointed out that a summons for 10 am had been served to him at 10:10 am the same day. The mayor indicated that he was questioned about two public procurements.

"There is no need to chase me and look for me as a criminal. I have never been in hiding," he emphasized, adding that he will cooperate with the investigative authorities.

Mumun was taken in for questioning at the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Kardzhali. The questioning was linked to an investigation into alleged misconduct in office related to a public procurement procedure, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said. After leaving the Regional Directorate, Mumun returned to the Kardzhali Municipality.
