Giurgiu (December 17, 2025) – The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) launches a series of experts discussions on the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising. Sites where the Giurgiu Revolutionary Committee held its meetings and from which Hristo Botev’s detachment boarded the steamship Radetzky were honored as part of the joint initiative of Bulgarian National Television (BNT), BTA and Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) titled “14 Centuries of Bulgaria in Europe.” The initiative includes the commemoration of anniversaries in Bulgarian history that are significant for Europe’s shared history and will be observed in the years leading up to 2032, when 1,400 years will be marked since the establishment in 632 of the first Bulgarian state formation on European territory—Old Great Bulgaria. The event attendees included Giurgiu Deputy Mayor Ionel Muscalu, the Executive Director of the Danubius Euroregion Association, Lily Gancheva, Ruse Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov, Boyko Vassilev, host and executive producer of the BNT Panorama talk-show, Sofia University Rector Prof. Georgi Valchev, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaikov, Ruse Mayor Pencho Milkov, and BTA’s correspondent in Bucharest Martina Gancheva.
