Schoolchildren from the private German School in Sofia (Deutsche Schule Sofia) and the German School in Rome (Deutsche Schule Rom) visited the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and the editorial office of LIK magazine, a BTA publication, on Thursday.
The children, who are part of the school newspaper teams 9 Chasa and Die Ducks discussed the freedom of the Bulgarian press with the editor-in-chief of LIK magazine, Yanitsa Hristova. The forum's agenda also included the development of LIK, which in January celebrated its 60th anniversary.
The end result of the students' visit will be the publication of a joint newspaper compiled by the two schools. While the children from Rome are currently visiting Bulgaria, their peers from Bulgaria are planned to go to the Italian capital in June to continue work on the project there.
On Thursday, the children were accompanied by their teachers who had the chance to tour the BTA building and see its refurbished newsroom and its modern archive storage facilities.
