Bulgarian actor Borislav Paunov won the Best Actor Award at the PROMA Film Festival in Romania for his role in Chocolate directed by Orlin Milchev, the festival organizers told BTA on Thursday.
The Bulgarian black-and-white short film tells the story of little Bobby, who lives with his large family in a Roma neighbourhood and dreams of a piece of chocolate. Angry at fate and his constantly slipping luck, he sets off through the big city in search of justice, and chocolate.
The film also won the festival trophy.
The festival took place from September 5 to 7 in Brasov, where audiences had the chance to watch 15 short films by directors from eight countries, selected for the official competition, along with special screenings of films that have been recognized at international film festivals.
Among the special guests was Michael John Chaplin, grandson of Nobel Prize laureate and four-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Eugene O’Neill.
The PROMA Film Festival is organized by the CRN Association and financed by the Brasov County Council.
