site.btaOversight Authority Is Preparing Order for Demolition of Illegal River Correction in Elenite Resort Village

The National Construction Control Directorate is preparing a report establishing illegal construction and issuing a demolition order for the river correction located beneath the hotel in the Elenite holiday village, Regional Development Minister Ivan Ivanov on bTV after four people lost their life in flash floods in the Municipality of Nessebar last week.

“You understand that it cannot be demolished unless the hotel is also demolished,” added Minister Ivanov.

He also stated once again that no documents have yet been found regarding the river correction.

On Friday, the Regional Administration in Burgas extended the state of emergency in the Elenite area by another seven days. In the other settlements within the Municipality of Nessebar, the state of emergency has been lifted.

There are numerous flooded buildings, deposits, uprooted vegetation, and destroyed infrastructure in the Elenite area.

“This cannot go unpunished. I am committed to ensuring that the state, using all its resources, will secure solid evidence for the needs of the justice system,” said Prime Minister Zhelyazkov on Friday in response to a question about seeking accountability for the tragedy in the holiday village, which claimed the lives of four people.
