The branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse in Taraclia welcomed the participants in an academic cycling tour. In front of the building, the teachers from Ruse tasted traditional bread with salt, served by the students, while the pupils of the Children's Creative Centre performed a Bulgarian folk dance for the guests.

The cyclists were welcomed by Alexander Borimechkov, administrative director of the Ruse University branch in Taraclia.

Senior Assistant Professor Pavel Petrov expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and presented Alexander Borimechkov with a plaque on behalf of the rector. For his part, the administrative director of the branch presented symbolic medals to all participants. Afterwards, everyone involved in the event planted a tree in the garden in front of the university as a memento.

Senior Assistant Professor Pavel Petrov from the University of Ruse told BTA that he was the initiator of this idea. "There are eight of us in total – the group includes a professor, an associate professor, and the rest of us are senior assistants. We are coming to Taraclia from Silistra. Our route was as follows: we left Ruse, passed through Razgrad – the first branch, then through Silistra, where we spent the night. This morning we set off for Taraclia. Tomorrow we will enter Romania again – we will spend the night in Giurgiu, then in Turnu Măgurele, and then we will reach the last branch – Vidin. On June 24, we will return to Ruse. As soon as we entered this area, I felt like I was in Bulgaria," Petrov said.

After the official welcome, the guests from Ruse took a tour of Taraclia, the center of the Bessarabian Bulgarians, and got to know its destinations and landmarks.

The cycling tour of the branches of the University of Ruse is part of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the university's founding, 70 years of academic sports, and 65 years of academic tourism. It is held under the patronage of the rector of the University of Ruse, Assoc. Prof. Desislava Atanasova, and the honorary rector and chairman of the General Assembly of the university, Acad. Hristo Beloev. The cycling tosr is called “academic” because it covers all branches of the University of Ruse.
