Metropolitan Pahomii of Vidin officiated a prayer service for the well-being of the Bulgarian news media worldwide, held at the Klisura Monastery in Northwestern Bulgaria on Sunday. The event was attended by the participants in the 20th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media, organized by BTA. National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova was a special guest.

Addressing the audience, Pahomii said that the biblical story about Jesus healing a man blind from birth is commemorated on May 25. He noted that the man’s spiritual blindness was healed in this way as well.

Pahomii told the media professionals: “I pray to God that you may be our eyes to the world as you open windows to the truth with your objectivity while covering the news and everything that people need to know. In the world of today, we all use new technologies, and for better or worse, we are immersed in the flow of information as we follow events at home and abroad. It is therefore incumbent upon journalists to be well-intentioned and objective and to possess sound knowledge in every field, so that they really show us the truth as it is.”
