The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) received certificates of honour from the leadership of the  Cyril and Methodius Bulgarian Society in the city of Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut Province, Argentina. The awards were presented on May 24, during a solemn concert celebrating 35 years since the foundation of the Bulgarian association.

"Where there is even just one Bulgarian or a descendant who preserves the traditions, there is also Bulgaria," said Cyril and Methodius Bulgarian Society President Tsenka Genova and added that the honourary awards of the association are presented to to individuals and institutions that "contribute to raising awareness of the life and activities of Bulgarians in the province of Chubut" and it is an honour and pride for her to present them to the Bulgarian News Agency.

BTA received an honorary diploma for overall contribution to the cultural life of the Bulgarian association with gratitude for the "good, full-fledged and fruitful partnership" built.

An award for "high professionalism and dedication shown in covering the activities of the southernmost Bulgarian organization in the world" was also awarded to Angela Georgieva from the BG World directorate at BTA.

During the awarding ceremony, two congratulatory addresses by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev were read out, one to the management and members of the Cyril and Methodius Bulgarian Society and one to the leaders and performers of the two folklore ensembles functioning at the association.

The Cyril and Methodius Bulgarian Society in the Argentinian city of Comodoro Rivadavia is the southernmost Bulgarian association in the world. It was created in 1989 with the main goal of gathering descendants of Bulgarians who moved to Argentina in the 1930s. The company has established a Bulgarian folk dance group and a musical group, which participate in the festive events organized by the Bulgarian community and present Bulgarian culture and traditions to the Argentine community.
