Bulgarian Ambassador in Seoul Petar Kraytchev and the Bulgarian Embassy's trade and economic affairs service, Ilia Dekov, participated in a conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the first Free Trade Agreement (FTA) of the Republic of Korea, at the invitation of the Minister for Trade of the Republic of Korea Inkyo Cheong, the Bulgarian diplomatic mission said.

The FTA between the Republic of Korea and the European Union was signed in 2010, while Seoul's first such arrangement was concluded with Chile and came into force in 2004, the Bulgarian Embassy explained.

The diplomatic mission added that representatives of more than 40 countries took part in the event, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea International Trade Association.

During the official reception for the heads of diplomatic missions in Seoul, Ambassador Kraytchev thanked Minister Inkyo Cheong for the hospitality and expressed readiness to deepen the trade and economic exchange between Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea, highlighting the recently signed memorandum between the two countries.

Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov and his Korean counterpart Inkyo Cheong signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in Trade and Investment Promotion last month in Abu Dhabi. "The document is seen as a meaningful impetus in the overall process of expanding trade and economic relations between Sofia and Seoul," the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in the Republic of Korea added.
