site.btaBulgarian Library Experts and Consulate Discuss Books Distribution, Cultural Preservation in US

St. Cyril and St. Methodius National Library Director Kalina Ivanova and Assoc. Prof. Elena Savova from the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (UniBIT) visited the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Chicago, the diplomatic mission reported on their Facebook page Monday. Ivanova and Savova are part of the Bulgarian delegation participating in the American Library Association's annual conference, ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition 2026, held in Chicago.

During their meeting with Consul General Svetoslav Stankov, they discussed initiatives for more effective distribution of high-quality Bulgarian books and publications in the US, as well as opportunities for partnership in the areas of restoration, digitization, and preservation of the literary heritage of the Bulgarian diaspora in the US.

Stankov expressed his confidence that such joint efforts would contribute to the preservation of Bulgarian cultural heritage and to the promotion of Bulgarian literature and traditions among fellow Bulgarians and the US public.
