The Pletenitsa folk trio was created especially for the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival, which will take place in Munich from May 15 to 17, said Neli Gerbavsits, leader of the Lele, Male folk song group from Austria.
The trio was born from the idea of Gerbavsits, who will perform together with Ivi Malcheva and Plamenka Vankova, who are part of "Na horoto" in Graz. The godmother of the trio is Mirislava Turbich, founder of the Na horoto Folklore Group in Graz, Austria.
“With great desire and love, the three ladies rehearse tirelessly, with Neli regularly traveling the distance from Vienna to Graz in the name of music", Turbich emphasized, adding that in one of the songs the audience will also hear the magical accompaniment of a gadulka.
The travelling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
