The Megdanski Leventi duo, composed of Aleksander Andonov from Nessebar, Bulgaria, and Georgi Dushev from Castelo de Rugat, Spain, will present a piece for two bagpipes at the traveling gathering “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance,” the 11th edition of which will be held from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany.
“This is music with a bright character, lively rhythm and genuine folk spirit, which we have named A Walk Through The Shopluka," said the musicians, who are 16 years old and are graduates of Petko Stoyanov - a bagpipe teacher in Nessebar. “Our friendship and our love for Bulgarian folk music brought us together in this duo, even though we are not together all the time,” they noted, adding that their friendship is often online, and their meetings during the holidays remain the most valuable.
“At the idea of our teacher, a touch of humor is also woven into our performance. We hope that it will cheer you up and pleasantly surprise you, and let the rest remain our little secret for you for now,” they emphasized.
The travelling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
