site.btaBulgaria to Host World Jet Ski Championship for First Time
Bulgaria will host the World Jet Ski Championship for the first time, outcompeting traditional powerhouses in the sport such as France, Italy, Czechia and Belgium.
Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov confirmed the city’s readiness to co-organise the event together with local club Aquatrax Racing and the Bulgarian Powerboat Federation. The Federation's head, Todor Hristov, highlighted the event’s importance for the region, both economically and in terms of international promotion, and praised five years of successful cooperation with the Municipality.
The competition, to be held under Mayor Nikolov’s auspices, will see over 300 participants from around the world, with daily spectators expected to exceed 5,000. Aquatrax Racing will handle the sporting programme.
A rich cultural programme will accompany the event, attracting athletes and tourists alike while promoting jet ski sport and Burgas as a host city. Eurosport will provide live coverage, reaching a global audience of over 100 million viewers.
Sarafovo Beach was selected as the venue for its excellent logistics, natural conditions, and ability to ensure safety for spectators and participants. The dates are set in the international calendar from 8 to 12 July 2026, the Federation told BTA.
An organising committee, chaired by Mayor Nikolov, will be formed next week to begin preparations.
