The Therma Palace and Eco Therma Village in Kranevo continues to develop its concept of combining balneotherapy, recovery and wellness in 2026, Maxim Sekov, Executive Director of Stroytrans 2011, the company behind the two spa facilities, told BTA.
This year the focus is on expanding personalized programmes for prevention, anti-stress and recovery, alongside short-term wellness packages. Over the past year, SPA facilities have been modernized, including mineral pools and relaxation areas, to improve comfort and service quality.
Specialized programmes are being developed for musculoskeletal, nervous and respiratory conditions, as well as for overall health strengthening. Doctors, rehabilitation specialists and therapists work at the balneological and SPA centre.
Sekov reported steady demand, with a balanced mix of Bulgarian and foreign tourists, mainly from Romania, Poland, Germany, Scandinavia and Israel, alongside a growing share of younger visitors.
The complex uses natural resources with proven healing properties: mineral water, mud and sea climate - which are applied through hydrotherapy, mud therapy, lye therapy and inhalations under medical supervision. Therma Village combines balneology, modern SPA therapies and sports infrastructure, including an ice rink and an Olympic-size swimming pool.
In the coming years, the focus will be on establishing the complex as a year-round destination, digitalizing services, and expanding international markets.
Manager Svetlana Amirova reported steady growth in interest in health and SPA tourism, including outside the summer season, driven by mineral water with proven healing properties, modern infrastructure and the combination with a seaside climate. Demand for family SPA tourism is also rising, with the complex offering tailored packages, children’s mineral pools and dedicated family recreation areas.
Amirova said cooperation with Bulgarian and international tour operators and health organizations is expanding, with key markets including Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, Israel, Ukraine and Moldova.
She noted that hosting the congress of the European Spa Association in Varna provides an opportunity for international visibility and for positioning Bulgaria as a modern and reliable SPA destination.
BTA presents news from certified SPA, wellness, and medical SPA centres in Bulgaria in its BG SPA: Salus per aquam, Health Through Water feature. Their total number exceeds 200. The initiative, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism, is linked to Europe’s leading health tourism event, the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT, which will be held from May 11 to 13, 2026, in Varna, Sts.
