site.btaSeven Injured in Overnight Russian Attack on Odesa Region, Prosecutors Say

Seven civilians were injured in a large-scale overnight Russian attack on Odesa Region, the Odesa Regional Prosecution Office said on Facebook on Tuesday.

According to preliminary information, the injured are men aged between 32 and 72. Four of them have been hospitalized.

"On the night of September 1, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a combined attack on Odesa and Odesa Region using attack drones, Banderol missiles, guided aerial bombs and missiles. Civilian infrastructure was hit," the Prosecution Office said.

Commercial premises and a building housing a sewing workshop were damaged, while two private homes were partially destroyed.

The Orlivka international border crossing on the ferry route to Romania was also attacked. According to the operational headquarters of the Izmail District State Administration, the crossing temporarily suspended operations as a result of the attack.

More than 150,000 ethnic Bulgarians live in Odesa Region, making them the third-largest ethnic group according to Ukraine's latest official census. Some 50,000 to 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself, while the largest compact Bulgarian communities are concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
