Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov has vowed that his country will continue to support Ukraine and to back efforts towards sustainable peace. Gurov made the remark at a meeting with the Chair of the Verkhovna Rada (the parliament) of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, in Kyiv on Monday, as quoted in a press release by the government in Sofia.

During the talks, the guest emphasized the need for international attention to remain focused on Ukraine, regardless of developments in the Middle East. It was highlighted that any peaceful resolution must guarantee Ukraine's sovereignty and long-term security. The importance of providing reliable security guarantees, supported by sustainable investments in the country's defence capabilities, was also noted.

The participation of the Bulgarian Prime Minister in the "Coalition of the Willing" meeting on February 24, which included Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, was also discussed between Gurov and Stefanchuk. On this earlier occasion, Gurov also expressed Bulgaria's continued support for Ukraine. Speaking now to Stefanchuk, he stated that Bulgaria remains committed to providing effective security guarantees in close coordination with EU and NATO partners.

The two countries declared their intention to deepen political dialogue and expand cooperation in the field of security and defence, with particular emphasis on stability in the Black Sea region and the strengthening of the rules-based international order.
