Sofia, July 22 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 423,319, after 14,673 tests identified 96 new infections on Wednesday, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 0.65 per cent.

Sofia City tops the list of new cases with 31 positive tests, followed by Burgas with 10.

The active cases are 7,301. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 726, including 80 in intensive care.

Another 183 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 397,831.

Three fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds up to 18,187.

With 11,081 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 1,940,761 vaccine doses have been administered so far and 885,953 people are fully vaccinated.

Later on Thursday, the Health Ministry said that new cases of the Delta and Beta variants had been registered in Bulgaria.

Eighty-six samples sequenced by the National Centre of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases found coronavirus variants of concern. The following variants were registered: Delta in 53 samples, Alpha in 32, and Beta in one sample. A variant under investigation was found in three samples. The most cases of the Delta variant were in Sofia, Burgas and Varna.

The samples were taken from COVID-19 patients between June 21 and July 8 at 29 treatment facilities in 17 Bulgarian regions.
