Poll: Unvaccinated Bulgarians Say They Avoid Jab
Because They Have Antibodies or Don't
Have Confidence in Vaccines

Sofia, July 27 (BTA) - The largest group of vaccinated Bulgarians say they are avoiding a COVID jab because they have enough antibodies and as many say the vaccines have not been tested well enough. This transpires in a representative poll by Talk Online Panels held online between July 20 and 23 among 1,003 respondents on a commission from Dnevnik.bg.

A total of 65 per cent of respondents in this poll were not vaccinated.

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, 16.7 per cent of Bulgarians are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and 18.5 per cent have had one dose only.

Close to half of respondents (42 per cent) say that the government should incentivize the vaccination process. Forty-six per cent say they trust scientific reports on the matter, while 35 per cent do not. Twenty-four per cent trust the health authorities, 23 per cent trust their own doctor and 8 per cent trust their friends.

Bulgarians are not supportive of mandatory measures to increase the scope of vaccination: only 15 per cent support mandatory vaccination of medics and only 14 per cent support the introduction of vaccination passports for access to public places.

Over half of respondents (57 per cent) believe that a vaccination awareness campaign should focus on the benefits and risks. Twenty per cent say it should focus on the effect of not being vaccinated. Twenty per cent say there is no need to get a vaccine. NV/LN/
