Nearly Half of Greece's Population
Fully Vaccinated
against COVID-19

Athens, August 3 (BTA) - Forty-eight per cent of Greece's entire population and 58 per cent of adults in the country, or nearly 5.2 million people, are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, said Marios Themistokleous, General Secretary of the Primary Health Care at the Ministry of Health, as quoted by the Kathimerini daily. Since the start of the vaccination campaign, 5,705,000 people have received one dose and 5,170,000 people, two doses of a coronavirus vaccine.

A total of 33,000 inoculations have been made or planned in the 15-17 age group, while in the 12-14 age group the interest is lower since the platform for booking a vaccination slot was only recently opened to this age group, Themistokleous said.

He also said that the vaccination rate is slowing down due to the holiday season but still stands at 40,000 doses per day on average. He expressed the hope that there will be stronger interest in the COVID-19 jab after August 15.
