The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 1,200,550 after 8,036 tests identified 2,191 new infections on Tuesday, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/ on Wednesday. The test positivity rate for the day is 27.26%.
The active cases number 20,888. There are 957 hospitalized patients with COVID-19. This includes 199 persons admitted to hospital on Tuesday, of whom 74.37% are unvaccinated, and 48 patients in intensive care.
Sofia City Region accounts for 585 new infections, followed by Plovdiv Region with 215 and Burgas with 214.
Another 1,376 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,142,312.
Eight people died on Tuesday (75% of them unvaccinated) and the death toll now stands at 37,342.
With 3,561 vaccine doses administered on Tuesday, the total number of doses stands at 4,463,805. There are 2,064,144 fully vaccinated people and 32,853 people with a second booster.
