Gallup Poll: 20% of Bulgarians
Are Fully Vaccinated
against COVID-19

Sofia, September 21 (BTA) - Around one fifth of adult Bulgarians are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. and as many of those who are not, say that they will take a vaccine, according to a Gallup International Balkan poll, whose findings were released on Tuesday. The survey was conducted among 1,007 respondents in face-to-face interviews between September 2 and 10.

However, 45 per cent of those who are not vaccinated, say that they don't intend to do it. They are mostly young representatives of marginalized communities, analysts say.

Around 10 per cent are unable or unwilling to answer whether they will get a vaccine.

Gallup says that the Bulgarian public is polarized. One half are vaccinated or say that they plan to do it, the other half are not vaccinated and don't intend. What's more those who say that they will get vaccinated may be conforming to expectations and they answers may not be genuine.

The sociological data about COVID-19 recoveries should not be accepted unconditionally but it can be a good starting point. It shows that Bulgarians who have recovered from COVID-19 are several times more compared with the number of officially repotted cases. Immunity among Bulgarians is not low but this is due to spreading infection and not the vaccines.

The vaccination rate is higher in the capital Sofia.

The reasons for refusal to get a vaccine should be analyzed in depth but at any rate a share of 45 per cent is a cause for concern, according to pollsters.

Gallup says that meanwhile the topic about vaccines is partially ideoligized. RY/PP
