Seek Solution

Sofia, September 23 (BTA) - Caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev and the ministers of tourism, finance, health and economy met with representatives of restaurant owners and other representatives of the tourist industry to discuss the problems of the sector and its operation during the pandemic, as well as the state compensations for the business.

Emerging from a meeting, Tourism Minister Stela Baltova said that there will be another meeting ten days from now and until then decisions will be made to help weather the blow from the pandemic on the tourist sector.

She said money from the updated state budget, which are earmarked for the tourist sector, will be used to promote COVID vaccination in the country.

Baltova said the authorities would discuss a set of certificates attesting to the safety of all places of accommodation, catering establishments and tourist sites. The sides also agreed that prompt practical, financial and economic measures should be taken from now to provide for a secure tourist season 2022.

The distribution of the 70 million leva, set aside for the sector in the updated state budget, was also discussed. Baltova said everyone had agreed the state needed a working tourist sector.

Richard Alibegov of the Bulgarian Association of Restaurants said they would continue to work as until now: ready for protest.

National Tourism Board CEO Polina Krastoyanova said vaccination is an opportunity to provide economic growth, which is why ways should be sought to promote it. /DD/BR
