The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 1,138,923, after 14,092 tests identified 1,143 new infections on Wednesday, 66.67 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 8.11 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 348 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 85 cases and Varna Region with 73.
The active cases are 179,885. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 1,944, including 219 in intensive care. Of the new 193 hospital admissions, 79.27 per cent were not vaccinated.
The infected medical staff have reached 24,074, with 15 new cases over registered since Wednesday.
Another 5,133 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 922,509.
Seventeen fatalities were reported (82.35 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 36,529.
With 1,698 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,352,008 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 2,050,547 people are fully vaccinated, and 723,465 have received a booster jab.
