Poll Finds Slight Positive Change in
Attitude to COVID Vaccines
among Bulgarians

Sofia, November 7 (BTA) - The Exacta polling agency finds a slight positive change in Bulgarians' attitude to COVID vaccines. 33 per cent say they have already received one, two or three vaccine doses. 18 per cent are still unvaccinated but plan to get a jab soon. 11 per cent have counterindications which prevent them from getting a vaccine. 38 per cent are unvaccinated and intend to keep it that way.

The poll was held between October 29 and November 5 among 1,025 adult Bulgarians in 91 population centres across the country. It was conducted by face-to-face interviews on Exacta's own funding.

The share of respondents who say they have been vaccinated is biggest in the over-60 age brackets (32.8 per cent) and among those aged 40 to 49 (26.4 per cent), among people with university education (36 per cent) and Sofianites (35 per cent).

The poll also looked at the political dimensions of the attitude to vaccines. 30 per cent of the sympathizers of each of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Democratic Bulgaria and Continue the Change are fully vaccinated, as well as 41 per cent of GERB supporters.

Overall, vaccine supporters (people with one, two or three vaccine doses and those intending to be vaccinated soon) are the most among the supporters of Democratic Bulgaria (70.3 per cent), followed closely by GERB (69 per cent) and then by Continue the Change (55.6 per cent) and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (49.3 per cent).

The opponents of vaccination prevail among There Is Such a People (56.6 per cent), the Socialist party (52 per cent), Rise Up BG! Here We Come (55 per cent) and Vazrazhdane (75 per cent), as well as those who don't vote or are hesitant (63 per cent for both groups).

The analysts found that personal experience is a decisive factor in forming one's attitude to the whole range of COVID-related issues.

The health crisis is a concern for nearly two-thirds of Bulgarians, according to the poll.

The analysts say that such concerns can be handled with efforts involving state institutions, specialists, opinion leaders, politicians and the news media. LN/
