COVID-19 Update:
2,839 New Cases,
Test Positivity Rate at Nearly 9%
Sofia, November 18 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 665,578, after 31,683 tests identified 2,839 new infections on Wednesday, 83.66 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 8.96 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 769 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 262 cases and Varna Region with 214.
The active cases are 110,998. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 7,544, including 761 in intensive care. Of the 770 hospital admissions, 90.13 per cent were not vaccinated.
The infected medical staff have reached 16,916.
Another 3,349 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 527,750.
A hundred and sixty-four fatalities were reported (92.07 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 26,840.
With 21,520 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 3,130,450 vaccine doses have been administered so far and 1,660,890 people are fully vaccinated, and 51,426 have received a booster jab. DD/PP
