Sofia, January 6 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 764,476, after 52,040 tests identified 6,766 new infections on Wednesday, 71.58 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 13 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 2,112 positive tests, followed by Burgas with 598 cases and Varna with 583.
The active cases are 117,409. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 4,608, including 493 in intensive care. Of the 672 hospital admissions, 85.42 per cent were not vaccinated.
The infected medical staff have reached 18,245.
Another 758 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 615,764.
Sixty-six fatalities were reported (93.94 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 31,303.
With 32,429 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 3,768,966 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,927,428 people are fully vaccinated, and 324,454 have received a booster jab. LN/KK/КК/
