Sofia, January 8 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 775,525, after 44,662 tests identified 5,524 new infections on Friday, 74.02 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at a little over 12 per cent.

The active cases are 125,930. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 4,926, including 522 in intensive care. Of the 644 new hospital admissions on Friday, 83.54 per cent were not vaccinated.

Another 676 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 618,124.

Ninety-six fatalities were reported (92.71 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 31,471.

With 34,482 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 3,838,576 vaccine doses have been administered so far.
