The National Press Club of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in Bolhrad, Ukraine was opened on April 14, 2026. It will support the recently established Bulgarian Media Center, BG Focus, at the Georgi Stoykov Rakovski Bolhrad High School.
This was made possible thanks to the partnership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Odessa, which provided funding for the construction of the Press Center under a project by the Bolhrad Regional Association of Citizens, Teachers and Students Sabuzhdane under a programme for supporting Bulgarian community organizations of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria, explained BTA Director General Kiril Valchev.
The event took place during the Bolhrad high school's holiday, which was celebrated on the 205th anniversary of the birth of its patron Georgi Rakovski.
BTA is committed to providing free training to high school students in journalism, supporting the creation and dissemination of news, and organizing events.
Attending the opening were Snezhana Skorich, principal of the Georgi Sava Rakovski High School, Svetoslav Ivanov, Consul General of Bulgaria in Odesa, Ivan Dimitrov, Executive Director of Musicautor, Ivo Hristov, delegated lecturer of the Bulgarian Education Ministry in Moldova, Rayna Mandzhukova, Chairwoman of the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, and Yaroslav Kichuk, Rector of the Izmail State University of the Humanities.
