A drone attack was carried out against Odesa Region Friday, Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, announced via Telegram. For approximately two hours, air defence units successfully repelled the enemy assault targeting civilian infrastructure across the region, according to Kiper’s statement.
“Despite the efforts of the air defense, transformers at one of the region’s transport infrastructure facilities were damaged during the attack, causing a fire. The State Emergency Service responded quickly and extinguished the blaze,” the post said.
During the night, the Russian drone strikes targeted the Podilsk district, Vilkove, and Prymorsko in the Odesa region, local Telegram channels reported.
Bulgarians in the Odesa region number more than 150,000 and were the third largest population group in Ukraine in 2001, according to the official census. About 50,000 - 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
