Bulgaria continues its cooperation with the Swiss Confederation in the implementation of the second Swiss cohesion contribution to selected European Union member states with support measures in the field of migration. This is possible after the Council of Ministers at today's meeting decided to approve a draft Framework Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Swiss Federal Council.

Bulgaria will receive financial assistance amounting to CHF 21.35 million to implement the following measures: cultural mediation and support for asylum seekers in Bulgaria; strengthening the national child protection system and the specialized approach to protecting the rights of refugee and migrant children in Bulgaria; digitization of international protection procedures; establishment of a unit for the initial reception of unaccompanied refugee and migrant children; improvement of accommodation and living conditions in safe zones for unaccompanied children in Bulgaria.

The approval of the Framework Agreement is the result of successful and sustainable cooperation between the Government of Bulgaria and Swiss partners from the State Secretariat for Migration. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth is authorized to sign the Agreement, subject to subsequent ratification.
