site.btaParliament Approves Its Annual Work Programme on European Issues


The Members of Parliament approved Friday the Annual Work Programme of the National Assembly on European Union Issues (2025) by 111 votes in favour, 31 against, and 10 abstentions. Parliament adopted its annual programme in line with the priorities set out in the European Commission’s Work Programme for 2025, which outlines its ambition to increase competitiveness, improve security and strengthen economic sustainability in the European Union.
According to the report of the Committee on European Affairs and Oversight of the European Funds, with the adoption of the annual programme, Bulgarian Parliament puts under the procedure of parliamentary monitoring and control a number of draft acts of the European institutions in priority areas. Among the legislative initiatives to be monitored will be the three Omnibus packages, the digital package, the European Business Portfolio, the Accelerating Industrial Decarbonisation Mechanism Act, the Digital Networks Act, the EU Space Act, a targeted revision of the REACH Regulation and the Bioeconomy Strategy. In addition, in the area of defence, Bulgarian Parliament aims to follow up on: the Critical Medicines Act and new rules on drug precursors, the Firearms Directive and the new common approach to migrant returns.
During the debate, Committee Chair Dimitar Gardev of “There Is Such a People” explained that with the adoption of the programme, Bulgarian Parliament will have the opportunity for legislative scrutiny and proposals to the Commission, which could affect its work.
