In connection with the abrupt deterioration of the security situation in the Middle East, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry on Friday called on Bulgarian nationals to avoid non-essential travel to 11 countries in the region and travel there only where urgently necessary.
The advisory concerns Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
It is advisable for Bulgarians, including short-term residents who are already in the listed countries, to consider an option to leave promptly in case their stay there is not crucially necessary, the press release said.
The Ministry urged Bulgarian nationals travelling to, or staying in, the listed countries to register at the Bulgarian diplomatic mission concerned and, to this end, provide their contact details. This will be essential for quick and adequate assistance by the diplomatic missions in case of emergency.
