GERB leader Boyko Borissov wrote on the social media platform X that he was "horrified by the brutal missile strike on the centre of Sumy on Palm Sunday".
"I strongly condemn this act of violence, and my thoughts are with the people of Ukraine. We firmly uphold our commitment to an immediate and complete ceasefire," Borissov added.
At least 21 people were killed and 83 injured in the ballistic missile strike in Sumy early Sunday morning, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, calling it one of the deadliest in Ukraine in 2025 and urged a strong international response against Moscow. "A horrific Russian ballistic missile strike on Sumy. The missiles hit a normal city street and everyday life – residential buildings, educational institutions, cars on the road… And this happened on a day when people go to church – Palm Sunday, the day marking the Lord's entrance into Jerusalem. Preliminary reports indicate dozens of civilians have been killed and injured," Zelenskyy said, as quoted by Ukrinform.
