A 15-year-old boy was killed and 58 people, including eight children, were evacuated after a drone strike hit a residential building overnight in Odesa Region, Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said on Telegram on Thursday. The boy sustained fatal injuries as a result of the attack.

Overnight, drones targeted civilian areas in the region, with one of them striking the space between the 18th and 19th floors of a residential block without detonating. Damage was caused to the building’s facade and windows, as well as to cars parked nearby.

Emergency and municipal services are working to deal with the consequences of the overnight strike.

Bulgarians in Odesa Region number more than 150,000 and are the third largest population group in Ukraine, according to the latest official census. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
